This retaining wall replaced an existing 6" x 6" pressure treated wall that was failing due to deteriorating wood and improper drainage behind the wall.  After careful consultation with the owner, it was decided that replacing the existing wall in its entirety would not only be more aesthetically pleasing, but more cost effective and safer.

After removing the old wall, we removed trees and overgrowth that was behind the wall and excavated an additional 10' of soil from where the existing wall was to allow for installation of the new wall and geo-grid.

The new wall is approximately 180' in length and 7' high with two flanking walls that are 20' in length and tier down from the wall to the asphalt.  This wall is a complex system of the new block, geo-grid, stone base, and fiberglass pins with crushed stone which provide additional internal interlocking support and the proper internal drainage.  The new wall was backfilled with stone and the existing soil compacted which also allows the wall to drain properly.

The end result is a beautiful wall that will serve the property well for many years to come.
