Project Information at a Glance:

Type of work:   550 square foot addition and complete interior
                          remodel

Role:                  General Contractor

Location:            Edgewood, Harford County, Maryland

While this addition was built like a typical addition, the original construction of the house was the exact opposite.  All of the exterior walls were constructed of concrete block.  While this made construction and remodeling a little more difficult than normal, it certainly was not impossible.  The exterior wall on the side of the house where the addition was to be built had to be completely removed before framing could begin in order to make a smoother transition from existing to new.  Typically the penetrations are made after the new work is closed in.

Once used as a summer home, the owners wanted to make this their permanent residence year round after construction was complete.  However, in order for that to happen the interior of the existing house needed extensive remodeling on the first floor to allow a smoother flow of the new living space.  This included all new windows and exterior doors.

The new exterior of the home is finished off with a spacious deck to enjoy the waterfront views.  A detached two garage was also built on the property.  Stillwater was the perfect choice for this project because of the vast knowledge of our design team and skilled expertise in the field which made the hectic process of construction effortless for the owners.
